Who are
we ?

Our mission

Since 1964, under the initial name of SOS Faim, our NGO has been fighting hunger, poverty and inequality through agro-ecology and partnership. Today, alongside more than 70 partner organisations on three continents, Humundi supports the agro-ecological transition to guarantee better incomes for farming communities and healthy, accessible and sustainable food for the whole planet.

Our
Vision

We want a world without hunger, one that is fair, inclusive and based on solidarity, where everyone can live in harmony and satisfy their basic needs while guaranteeing those of future generations.

Accelerating the agro-ecological transition

A decent income for farming communities and healthy food for everyone in a protected environment – it’s possible! That’s why agro-ecology is at the heart of Humundi’s commitments./

Access to finance

Access to appropriate financial services remains a major challenge for farmers. That’s why Humundi facilitates access to them to better equip those who are working towards sustainable food systems.

Advocating sustainable agricultural and food policies

With our partners, we raise awareness among political leaders of the urgent need to act to establish a political framework that supports transition, acts against harmful free trade agreements, against chemical pesticides, or finances agroecology.

Supporting civic engagement

Humundi supports anyone who wants to get involved, understand the challenges facing the agri-food industry and acquire the necessary knowledge. Citizen involvement is an essential lever of international solidarity to meet the challenges here and there.

our approaches

221111PAP963 - : Who are we ?

1
Social approach

Our aim is to improve the living and working conditions of everyone involved in the food production chain. Our dual mission is to combat inequality and guarantee access to healthy food for everyone.

By putting human at the centre of our actions, we recreate social links, promote solidarity between communities and enhance traditional local cultures. We ensure that everyone, especially women and young people, can become empowered, participate in decision-making and become autonomous.

2
Partnership approach

Our work is based on close collaboration with local partners in Africa and Latin America. We co-construct with organizations in the field such as NGOs, farmers’ organizations, social movements, funding and research institutions throughout the food production chain, from field to plate. In this way, we don’t work “instead of” but “with” our partners, who are familiar with local issues and can draw on their expertise.

3
Agroecological approach

Agroecology represents a concrete solution for feeding the planet sustainably while respecting it. As well as preserving the environment, it values and respects the people who work at the heart of food production, with the aim of ensuring food sovereignty and greater autonomy. For almost 10 years, we have been defending the principles of agroecology in the field, while advocating their integration into food and agricultural policies.

our network of

partners

around the world

We closely work with 70 partners, including farmers’ organizations, rural finance institutions, research bodies and local NGOs, all committed to the agroecological transition.

Our partners are our strength! We are a dynamic and diverse network, combining our skills, resources and determination to create a positive impact in the communities we support.

We cultivate
a fairer
world
