We are active in nine countries in Europe, Africa and Latin America to promote sustainable food systems. Working closely with local partners, we provide support tailored to each context to generate a positive impact.

1) Supporting the agro-ecological transition
Supporting agro-ecological production
We support farming practices that protect biodiversity, water and soil. This includes techniques such as crop rotation, composting and the use of biopesticides. Agroecology helps to support farming families, preserve local ecosystems and protect people’s health.
Promoting fair commercialization
Demanding a decent income for those who produce our food also means intervening in the marketing channels. We support trade that pays a fair and sustainable income by helping to produce, label, store and sell agro-ecological products, while encouraging local consumption.
Building resilience to crises
Faced with growing insecurity in the countries where we operate, and climate crises, we support the resilience of local communities and food systems. In other words, their ability to resist, adapt and strengthen themselves in times of crises.
Supporting research and formations
To ensure that today’s young people produce more sustainable food tomorrow, we support universities and research centers that incorporate agroecology into their programs.
2) Facilitating the economic development of farmers
Facilitating access to financial services
Through our local partners, we promote access to micro-credit for farming families, enabling them to improve their working and living conditions. Developing income-generating activities will enable them to become self-sufficient.
Making rural areas attractive to young people
When rural areas have no prospects to offer, young people leave for the cities. By creating sustainable employment and income opportunities in rural areas, Humundi is helping to employ young people and maintain farming activities.
Encouraging women farmers to become self-sufficient
We help women farmers to become economically independent by offering leadership training, facilitating their access to financial services and production resources to strengthen their representation, their ability to make their voices heard and their participation in decision-making.
3) Advocating sustainable agricultural and food policies
Calling for sustainable agricultural policies
We call for sustainable food systems to be at the heart of public policies. In order to speed up the agro-ecological transition and speak up for farmers’ voices, we regularly call on the political world and public opinion, alongside our partners and coalitions.
4) Supporting civic engagement
Encouraging civic commitment
We encourage everyone who wants to gain a better understanding of the challenges facing our food and agriculture. Through our publications, educational and awareness-raising tools, we provide the keys to actively contributing to a more sustainable future.
